Pay Attention Change Your Mind

Make Meetings Work

When was the last time that after having listened to a colleague during a meeting,  you have totally dropped (or radically revised) your assumed solution to the challenge at hand.

It is always wise to keep in mind that any problem has many solutions.

If you think you are smarter than all of us, please kindly drop this reading right now and carry on with your illusion... Good luck to you, and I feel sorry for the people in your community.

And for those of you who are still here; yes dear, isn't it obvious:

All of us are smarter than any of us.

Any contemplation on where the urgency lies on company culture ends up with this one desire:

All teams are to be aligned for the shared  goal.

This may sound like a cliche and it may seem simple. However, for any company, this is a never ending complex journey on which a vast majority keep failing at the very early steps.

Mind you, this issue pops up in any given company. We do have trouble cooperating, cocreating, collaborating, and yes coexisting.

If you feel the urge to create a better company culture, you better start the journey with changing the form and structure of your meetings.

A meeting is the space where all teams coexist all the time.

The immediate appearance of any meeting is to be analysed for its underlying form. A full body scan is crucial before designing necessary revisions.

Let's start holding meetings where everybody pays attention to anybody, not just the same buddy all the time.

Let's start listening to what others are bringing to the table. If we continue to keep our minds shut for a variety of ideas, people are soon going to stop sharing their intelligence. And then, we are going to be doomed for a destiny which will be in the hands of delusional people who have quit reading these lines a while ago.

We have had enough of the diminishers, and these are definitely the times for the multipliers.

Let's make meetings actually serve their purpose; sharing intelligence for our shared goal...

Let's start a cultural transformation journey, hitting the road with a motto: "Make Meetings Work".

The journey ahead is definitely a complex one, but it's truly rewarding for all parties  involved...
